2011 Orchard Red

Tasting Notes: This Provence-style blend is complex and balanced. Blackberry, cherry and black pepper notes. The addition of Syrah – compared to the 2010 Orchard red – contributes to a smoother mid-palate. We have big fans of both!

Varietal Information

Mourvèdre:  This grape, known for its full body and complexity, adds earthy, gamey and perfume characteristics to the wine.  It is the star of Long Walk Vineyard blends, and a lovely single varietal wine as well.

Grenache:  With medium body and color, this grape is used to add body and sweet fruitfulness. It is the earliest ripening grape in the vineyard, and the sweetest.

Syrah:  This full-bodied, full-flavored grape has one of the highest levels of antioxidants, along with a spicy and peppery aroma. It is a terrific stand alone varietal.

Cinsaut:  Light and aromatic, this grape adds softness, bouquet and a spicy component.

Carignane:  High in tannin, acid and color, this black skinned grape is used to add body, depth and color.
