Varietal Information
This grape, known for its full body and complexity, adds earthy, gamey and perfume characteristics to the wine. It is the star of Long Walk Vineyard blends, and is a lovely single varietal wine as well.
Also referred to as Mataró or Monastrell, this varietal is planted in many of the wine producing regions of the world, perhaps most notably the Rhône and Provence regions of Southern France. This grape is also used to make much of the dry rosé that the South of France, the world’s largest rosé producer, has become well known for producing.
